#Trumpgate is a tragic-comic diversion from the dysfunctional establishment that foisted him up in the first place.

Someone on Facebook asked me what stood out from the Mueller Report. The first thing, “No Collusion, No Obstruction, Complete and Total EXONERATION” vs “This is terrible. This is the end of my presidency. I’m fucked.” Certainly “Putin won” is going to jump out for a lot of people.

So far nothing has really surprised me. I was a professional opposition researcher for 5 years up to the point Trump got elected and having been a close follower of both GOP and mob politics, I was confident enough to bet 100 bucks on him not completing his first term of office before he was sworn in. The guy reeked of Russian mafia and money laundering before he ever set foot in the White House.

To me, the corruption, vice, and impeachable offenses are just comic diversions from the damage the Republican party has done through his administration legally: the castration of the EPA, the insane fiscal policy, the Trillion dollar boost in the defense budget that imbeciles applaud and that my party rolled over on… because the big stupid wall was a deal breaker but more nuclear weapons and the untold burden of storing new nuclear waste for centuries moving forward was not worth a protest. Can’t be seen as weak on armageddon, I guess.

Meanwhile we don’t have enough money to spend less on healthcare for better outcomes with Medicare For All because Jesus Christ died for insurance giants to make hundreds of millions fisting people out of their benefits and giving us automated call systems to whisper sweet nothings at us while we go broke on medical costs.

Furthermore, fighting for the pre-born these days means not caring about measuring the cancer cluster from your local EtO provider. Just like Reagan was the doofus they pulled off the ranch to play the new Warren Harding while the scumbags had a field day, this sad sack #45 gets to wear the blame for stuffing his pockets with foreign money and pay-to-play deals while the puppet masters rake all the more without consequence. This is a real shit sandwich and we all get to take a bite.

I’m still waiting for the comprehensive report on the Crosscheck purge. But then again, there’s not much to say about votes being legally stolen.

What is socialist feminism?

Coffee Talk #Broadsheet #Broadcast

There’s this mythos that the left wing controls the media… Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, that’s not the far left. It is in a bizarro world where you have a President like you have now… we’re living in a rightwing madhouse where these corporate conservative people are the far left.

More nonsense. More craziness. It becomes normal in a sort of way. Like the way racism is normalized to the point where we don’t even see it.

RICHARDSON! calls in! TIGER WON? Are you kidding? I thought Ex-Cub, ex-White Sox Bobby Molinaro was going to win that thing!

Fun Facts: The GOP was formed in 1854. Lincoln campaigned for Republican candidates to the Illinois General Assembly in 1858 seeking an appointment to the US Senate.

Socialism Never Works

April 4, 1968 to 2019 in one micro-blog

The Great Society and The War Against Poverty were laid to rest in the napalm ashes of the Vietnam War and the Reagan Reaction that came after the malaise of the Carter years. Dr. King died on this day in 1968 while advocating for sanitation workers in Memphis. 15 years later Ronald Reagan signed MLK Day into a national holiday while at the same time The Reagan Adminstration made sure the modest gains of the Poor Peoples Campaign withered in austerity. The 30 million dollars per day burden of killing Vietnamese peasants to save them from communism has become a 30 million dollars per hour Forever War. For Dr. King, the protest against mindless militarism and for economic justice was one and the same. It is not only fitting we remember the lessons of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., it is essential for our future to act upon them.

Lift The Ban on Rent Control

It should be noted that when Rep. Rita Mayfield and Rep. Curtis Tarver sided with Republicans and voted no and stopped an effort to Lift The Ban on Rent Control, it wasn’t a vote against a particular form of rent control. It was a vote against any form of rent control anywhere.  It was a vote against democracy supported mostly by  the real estate industry and developers, people who stand to profit from predatory rental agreements and gentrification.

Once again, we have profits over people. Money speaks for money while low-income people are not organized to protect themselves. With this vote we see the results of that.  It is telling that the victory statement  by the Chicagoland Apartment Association admitted that “affordable workforce housing… is currently lacking in supply, but the concept of rent control would make the goal of providing additional affordable housing less attainable because it would reduce the supply and quality of rental units to select from.” Simply put, the inability to force people out of their homes with sudden extreme rent increases will limit the number of units on the market. People with the least privilege and risk are expected to be left vulnerable so that wealthy and secure people are not inconvenienced in their effort to become wealthier and more secure at the expense of working people forced into homelessness.

The Democratic party, with a historic super majority in the Illinois general assembly, remains saddled with Koch Brothers/ALEC legislation that was implemented with regressive intent to serve the interests of the powerful and make sure every dollar earned by working families ends up in the company store with IOU notes added. There will always be a well-funded slick argument to support a grand pyramid scheme, but if a Democratic super majority cannot find the political muscle to stand up for people, it’s time to change the name of our party to GOP LITE.
