Immediately after Donald Trump was elected, it occurred to me that we could not allow the GOP to be rewarded for unjustly blocking nomination hearings for Merrick Garland, President Obama’s nominee for Supreme Court justice. It seemed like there could be no basis for moving forward on nominations to the court without honoring President Obama’s selection. I started a petition on Change.org and within the first week it received the first hundred signatures. In three months, that has grown to over 129,000.
We stand in full support of a Democratic filibuster and urge those Republicans and Independents who respect Rule of Law to stand with us and the Democratic filibuster.
